igus Extends Partnership with National Forest Foundation for 2025, Committing to Plant 10,000 More Trees
igus reaffirms sustainability commitment with National Forest Foundation to support reforestation efforts in 2025
04 November 2024 – igus®, a global leader in motion plastics, is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) for 2025. Building on the success of previous efforts igus will contribute to planting an additional 10,000 trees as part of the NFF’s “50 Million for Our Forests” campaign, a nationwide initiative to restore National Forests.
Since the partnership began in 2022, igus has supported the NFF by planting 10,000 trees yearly, enhancing forest recovery efforts across multiple National Forests, including those in California, Colorado, and Virginia. By continuing this collaboration, igus reaffirms its commitment to the environment and supports the goal of planting 50 million trees across the United States.
“igus is committed to reducing its environmental footprint, and planting trees plays a vital role in our mission to improve what moves with a carbon-neutral footprint,” said Felix Brockmeyer, President and CEO of igus, Inc. “Our partnership with the National Forest Foundation allows us to contribute to crucial reforestation efforts while aligning with our overall sustainability initiatives.”
About the National Forest Foundation
The National Forest Foundation is a nonprofit organization chartered by the United States Congress that works to engage Americans in national and community-based conservation programs. Their “50 Million for Our Forests” campaign brings together companies, individuals, and foundations to restore and revitalize the 193 million acres of the National Forest System. This initiative helps to improve public enjoyment, preserve wildlife habitats, and bolster forest ecosystems.
igus’ Broader Sustainability Initiatives
As a pioneer in the motion plastics industry, igus prioritizes sustainability in its operations. Nearly all plastic waste from igus’ manufacturing process is recycled into reusable materials. For over fifty years, igus has focused on reducing waste and maintaining ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems certification.
Additionally, igus has expanded its environmental efforts through innovative partnerships, including the adoption of Mura Technology’s Hydro Plastic Recycling Solution (HydroPRS). This technology converts mixed plastic waste into crude oil using water, temperature, and pressure, supporting circular economy goals and minimizing the environmental impact of plastic waste.
Through its various sustainability efforts, igus demonstrates its ongoing commitment to reducing waste, advancing environmental technologies, and promoting reforestation. These initiatives are part of igus’ broader goal to contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
