An England-based piano builder is striking a new chord in the design of the centuries-old musical instrument by incorporating tribopolymer components from igus in a unique hammer system that offers supreme longevity, climate resistance and improved playability and sound performance.
Ball tables are used if delicate or heavy goods are to be transported in different directions. The ball transfer units from igus are manufactured with the high performance plastic xirodur B180, which absorbs loads of up to 500 N. igus, which is based in Germany, runs its North American operations out of Providence, R.I.
High speeds on long travels are special challenges for energy chain systems on machines and plants. Therefore, igus has now developed a new glide bar made of high-performance plastics with a five times longer service life. To monitor the wear-resistant rail, users now have the smart plastics EC.T sensor. This provides regular information about the condition of the rail and sends important technical information to the maintenance engineer in good time.
The Curfboard is a new type of sports equipment that combines a surfboard and a skateboard and in the process, has to withstand extreme loads. Especially high are the demands on its moving components, including the bearings. These must be wear-resistant, resilient, maintenance-free and reliable even under the toughest “Curf” conditions. Therefore, the developers at the curfboard GmbH rely on wear-resistant plain bearings made of iglidur Z and iglidur J350 high-performance polymers from igus.
While Germany-based company igus GmbH is well-known for its linear guides, motion stages, bearings, and e-chains and plastic guides to protect cables, it also does a decent amount of business in the 3D printing industry. In addition to polymer materials and specialized filaments, such as its lubrication-free iglidur for making smooth industrial components, the company also offers its own online 3D printing service, so that customers can purchase models made out of its materials.
VIP visit at the igus stand: German Federal Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel and Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven visited the stand of the motion plastics specialist igus at this year’s Hannover Messe. The main focus of interest: cost-effective “robotics made in Germany”.
Configurable online, on the go and on a tablet, as a durable special part, 3D printed or equipped with smart intelligence – motion plastics are increasingly becoming high-tech components. At this year’s Hannover Messe, igus will be demonstrating this development with 120 new products – from the intelligent plain bearing to the world’s first online platform that brings suppliers and users of cost-effective robotics together.
With a portfolio of more than 1,350 cables, igus has the optimum solution for the respective application at the most cost-effective price. igus, the Germany-based manufacturer of motion plastics, runs its North American operations out of Providence, R.I.
With the new E2 hydraulic chain we now have an energy and media guide even for smallest installation spaces on support legs. Strong, space-saving and easy to install, the igus e-chain guides two hydraulic hoses in addition to power and control cables. The E2 hydraulic chain is an ideal solution for special mechanical engineering, and its use significantly reduces the costs of maintenance and downtime.
