Using DeviceNet safely: new chainflex bus cable for ±360°/m torsion on robots
igus has expanded its CFROBOT8.PLUS robot cable family with a new DeviceNet cable designed to handle up to ±360°/m of torsion in highly dynamic robotic applications.

July 30, 2026 – The CFROBOT8.PLUS family is engineered for up to 10 million torsional cycles, with a specialized shield design that provides flexibility during continuous robotic movement. The cables also feature a reduced outer diameter—up to 21% smaller than previous CFROBOT8 models—making them a good fit for tight spaces.
Built for Dynamic Applications
The new DeviceNet cable is designed for applications including:
- Six-axis robots
- Handling systems
- Machine tools
- Linear and lead screw systems
- Other applications with continuous torsional movement
A tinned copper braided shield helps protect signal integrity under demanding conditions, while oil and UV resistance allows the cable to be used in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The CFROBOT8.PLUS family also includes cables for PROFINET, PROFIBUS, CAN bus and Ethernet applications up to CAT7, giving users options across a wide range of industrial communication systems.
Tested for Real-World Performance
Like all chainflex cables, CFROBOT8.PLUS cables are tested in igus’s 5,500-square-meter test laboratory under simulated real-world robotic motion. Testing has demonstrated reliable electrical performance through more than 15 million cycles.
The cables are available from stock in lengths starting at one meter, with ready-to-connect readycable® assemblies also available upon request.
With the addition of DeviceNet, the CFROBOT8.PLUS family gives engineers another option for reliable, long-lasting communication in demanding robotic applications.
